About the tides at Poulsbo

Poulsbo has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Seattle, Puget Sound. With a mean range of about 8.0 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 11.7 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 15.2 ft, comes on October 28, and the smallest, 6.2 ft, on October 26. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 13.5 ft on January 25 and bottom out at −4.0 ft on December 24.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Seattle, Puget Sound, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1972 to 1981 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Bangor Wharf, 4 mi away, where high tide comes about 16 min earlier.
