About the tides at Lofall
Tides here are mixed. On average the two daily highs differ by 1.7 ft, so check which low is the lower one before you head out. The pattern follows the reference station at Seattle, Puget Sound. The range is large, about 7.0 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 10.7 ft. The next spring tides peak on Tuesday, with a range of 11.4 ft. Neap tides follow on Sunday, when the range shrinks to 5.9 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 12.3 ft on January 25, and the lowest is −4.0 ft on December 24.
Lofall is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Seattle, Puget Sound: highs come about 8 min and lows about 6 min earlier than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1978 to 1983 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Port Gamble, 5 mi away. For tidal currents, see South Point.
Predictions are based on Seattle, Puget Sound.
