About the tides at Prince Rupert RoRo

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.44 m. Prince Rupert RoRo sees a mean range of about 3.97 m. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. That is larger than most British Columbia stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 5.91 m, comes on Sunday, and the smallest, 2.43 m, on October 16.

Prince Rupert RoRo is a CHS station with a live water level gauge. Predictions come from the station's own tidal analysis. It was established in 2018. The nearest other station is Prince Rupert Grain, 0.2 km away. For tidal currents, see Skeena River, Middle Passage. Heights are measured from chart datum, which in most Canadian tidal waters is set near the lowest normal tide. That is why lows here rarely go below zero.
