About the tides at Riviera Beach

Riviera Beach has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Sandy Hook, Fort Hancock. The average range is about 3.3 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. The next spring tides peak on October 10, with a range of 4.4 ft. Neap tides follow on Saturday, when the range shrinks to 3.3 ft.

Riviera Beach is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Sandy Hook, Fort Hancock: highs come about 8 min and lows about 38 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1976 to 1977 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Brielle, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 14 min earlier.
