About the tides at Rockville
Rockville has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Charleston, Cooper River Entrance. The range is large, about 5.4 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. The next spring tides peak on October 27, with a range of 7.6 ft. Neap tides follow today, when the range shrinks to 4.4 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 7.5 ft on October 1, and the lowest is −1.6 ft on January 23.
Rockville is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Charleston, Cooper River Entrance: highs come about 19 min and lows about 7 min later than there. The nearest other station is Point of Pines, 2 mi away. For tidal currents, see North Edisto River entrance.
Predictions are based on Charleston, Cooper River Entrance.
