About the tides at Ocella Creek
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.8 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Charleston, Cooper River Entrance. The range is large, about 5.4 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 7.5 ft on October 1, and the lowest is −1.6 ft on January 23.
Ocella Creek is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Charleston, Cooper River Entrance: highs come about 32 min and lows about 9 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1978 to 1979 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Point of Pines, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 17 min earlier. For tidal currents, see North Edisto River entrance.
Predictions are based on Charleston, Cooper River Entrance.
