About the tides at Roses Bluff
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.8 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Fernandina Beach, Amelia River. The range is large, about 6.2 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. That is larger than most Florida stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 6.7 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 8.0 ft on October 27, and the lowest is −1.4 ft on January 23.
Roses Bluff is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Fernandina Beach, Amelia River: highs come about 35 min and lows about 35 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1977 to 1985 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is St. Marys, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 10 min earlier.
