About the tides at Saanichton Bay

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The average range is about 1.45 m. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is smaller than most British Columbia stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on Wednesday, with a range of 2.45 m. Neap tides follow on Monday, when the range shrinks to 0.54 m.

This is a prediction station. CHS calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. The nearest other station is Sidney, 5.6 km away. For tidal currents, see Haro Strait, 1.2 nm west of Kellett Bluff. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
