About the tides at Saint John

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.26 m. The tide range here is very large, about 6.04 m on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most New Brunswick stations on this site.

Saint John is a CHS station with a live water level gauge. Predictions come from the station's own tidal analysis. It was established in 1936. The nearest other station is Partridge Island, 1.6 km away, where high tide comes about 6 min earlier. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.

Tide predictions and water levels from the Canadian Hydrographic Service. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
