About the tides at Seaside Heights

Seaside Heights has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Sandy Hook. On a typical day the water moves about 4.1 ft between high and low. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 5.4 ft, comes on October 25, and the smallest, 2.9 ft, on Sunday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 5.9 ft on August 2 and bottom out at −1.2 ft on January 23.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Sandy Hook, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1976 to 1977 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Seaside Park, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 4 h 10 m later. For tidal currents, see Point Pleasant Canal, north bridge.

Predictions are based on Sandy Hook.
