About the tides at Snag Point

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The tide range here is very large, about 16.6 ft on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 20.6 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 30, with a range of 24.3 ft. Neap tides follow today, when the range shrinks to 10.1 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 23.7 ft on November 28, and the lowest is −2.6 ft on December 25.
