About the tides at South Amboy

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at South Amboy Raritan River, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The pattern follows the reference station at Sandy Hook. The average range is about 4.8 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. The next spring tides peak on October 27, with a range of 7.0 ft. Neap tides follow today, when the range shrinks to 3.9 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 6.9 ft on August 2, and the lowest is −1.5 ft on January 23.

South Amboy is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Sandy Hook: highs come about 4 min earlier and lows about 8 min later than there.
