About the tides at St Albans
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.17 m. On a typical day the water moves about 1.24 m between high and low. That is larger than most Newfoundland and Labrador stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 1.79 m, comes on October 11, and the smallest, 1.07 m, on Sunday.
Predictions for St Albans come from this station's own tide records. There is no live sensor, so the table shows forecast only. It was established in 1960. The nearest other station is Gaultois, 29 km away, where high tide comes about 14 min earlier. Heights are measured from chart datum, which in most Canadian tidal waters is set near the lowest normal tide. That is why lows here rarely go below zero.
