About the tides at Tacks Beach

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The average range is about 1.36 m. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is larger than most Newfoundland and Labrador stations on this site.

This is a prediction station. CHS calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. The nearest other station is Davis Cove, 11 km away, where high tide comes about 11 min earlier. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.

Tide predictions and water levels from the Canadian Hydrographic Service. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
