About the tides at Town Point
Tides here are mixed. On average the two daily highs differ by 0.5 ft, so check which low is the lower one before you head out. The pattern follows the reference station at Sewells Point, Hampton Roads. On a typical day the water moves about 3.0 ft between high and low. That is larger than most Virginia stations on this site. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 4.3 ft on September 30 and bottom out at −0.7 ft on January 23.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Sewells Point, Hampton Roads, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Hollidays Point (Kings Highway bridge), 4 mi away, where high tide comes about 19 min later. For tidal currents, see Town Point Bridge, 0.5 mile east of.
Predictions are based on Sewells Point, Hampton Roads.
