About the tides at Tuktoyaktuk
Tuktoyaktuk has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The mean range is small, about 0.28 m, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. The next spring tides peak tomorrow, with a range of 0.47 m. Neap tides follow on Tuesday, when the range shrinks to 0.15 m.
Tuktoyaktuk is a CHS station with a live water level gauge. Predictions come from the station's own tidal analysis. The nearest other station is Hooper Island, 76 km away, where high tide comes about 34 min earlier. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
Tide predictions and water levels from the Canadian Hydrographic Service. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
