About the tides at Upshur Neck
Upshur Neck has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Ocean City, Fishing Pier. On a typical day the water moves about 4.3 ft between high and low. That is larger than most Virginia stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 6.7 ft, comes on October 28, and the smallest, 3.3 ft, on Monday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 6.5 ft on November 25 and bottom out at −1.4 ft on January 23.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Ocean City, Fishing Pier, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Revel Creek, 7 mi away, where high tide comes about 34 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Nassawadox Point, 1.9 n.mi. NW of.
Predictions are based on Ocean City, Fishing Pier.
