About the tides at Waianae

Waianae has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Honolulu. The mean range is small, about 1.1 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. The next spring tides peak on October 11, with a range of 1.9 ft. Neap tides follow today, when the range shrinks to 1.4 ft.

Waianae is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Honolulu: highs come about 20 min and lows about 18 min later than there. The nearest other station is Haleiwa, 12 mi away, where high tide comes about 1 h 22 m earlier. For tidal currents, see Barbers Point Jetty.

Predictions are based on Honolulu.
