About the tides at Wellfleet
Wellfleet has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Boston, Boston Harbor. The range is large, about 9.4 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. That is larger than most Massachusetts stations on this site. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 12.4 ft on December 25, and the lowest is −1.9 ft on January 23.
Wellfleet is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Boston, Boston Harbor: highs come about 14 min and lows about 30 min later than there. The nearest other station is Provincetown, 11 mi away, where high tide comes about 8 min earlier.
Predictions are based on Boston, Boston Harbor.
