About the tides at Yarmouth

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Yarmouth, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. Yarmouth sees a mean range of about 3.29 m. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. That is larger than most Nova Scotia stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 4.04 m, comes today, and the smallest, 3.14 m, on Sunday.

Yarmouth is a CHS station with a live water level gauge. Predictions come from the station's own tidal analysis. The nearest other station is Bunker Island Wharf, 1.8 km away, where high tide comes about 5 min earlier. Heights are measured from chart datum, which in most Canadian tidal waters is set near the lowest normal tide. That is why lows here rarely go below zero.
