About the tides at Yorktown

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. On a typical day the water moves about 2.3 ft between high and low. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 2.6 ft. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 3.4 ft on September 30 and bottom out at −0.7 ft on January 23.
