About the tides at 1 n.mi. above entrance

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.7 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Reedy Point, C&d Canal. The range is large, about 5.4 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. That is larger than most New Jersey stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 27, with a range of 6.5 ft. Neap tides follow today, when the range shrinks to 5.0 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 7.2 ft on August 2, and the lowest is −0.9 ft on January 24.

1 n.mi. above entrance is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Reedy Point, C&d Canal: highs come about 20 min and lows about 47 min earlier than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1977 to 1979 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Pine Island, 1 mi away, where high tide comes about 41 min later. For tidal currents, see Arnold Point, 1.8 nm Wsw of.

Predictions are based on Reedy Point, C&d Canal.
