About the tides at 8 miles above mouth
8 miles above mouth has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Fernandina Beach, Amelia River. With a mean range of about 6.9 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 9.3 ft on October 27 and bottom out at −1.8 ft on January 23.
