About the tides at Absecon Channel

Absecon Channel has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Atlantic City, Atlantic Ocean. On a typical day the water moves about 3.5 ft between high and low. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 4.8 ft, comes on October 25, and the smallest, 2.5 ft, on Sunday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 5.4 ft on August 2 and bottom out at −1.3 ft on January 23.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Atlantic City, Atlantic Ocean, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1977 to 1978 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Atlantic City (Ocean), 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 38 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Absecon Inlet.

Predictions are based on Atlantic City, Atlantic Ocean.
