About the tides at Albatross Anchorage

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Sand Point, Popof Island. With a mean range of about 5.4 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. That is smaller than most Alaska stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 9.0 ft, comes on Sunday, and the smallest, 3.5 ft, on October 15. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 10.1 ft on December 24 and bottom out at −2.8 ft on July 4.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Sand Point, Popof Island, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Beaver Bay, 12 mi away, where high tide comes about 24 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Unga Strait (1.4 miles N of Unga Spit).
