About the tides at Sand Point

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The range is large, about 5.2 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. That is smaller than most Alaska stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 7.2 ft. The next spring tides peak on Sunday, with a range of 8.5 ft. Neap tides follow on October 15, when the range shrinks to 3.3 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 9.5 ft on December 24, and the lowest is −2.7 ft on July 4.
