About the tides at Pirate Cove

Pirate Cove has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Sand Point, Popof Island. With a mean range of about 5.2 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. That is smaller than most Alaska stations on this site. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 9.8 ft on December 24 and bottom out at −2.6 ft on July 4.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Sand Point, Popof Island, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them.
