About the tides at Ambleside

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. With a mean range of about 2.10 m, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water.

Ambleside is a CHS station with a live water level gauge. Predictions come from the station's own tidal analysis. It was established in 1953. The nearest other station is Calamity Point, 2.4 km away, where high tide comes about 6 min later. Heights are measured from chart datum, which in most Canadian tidal waters is set near the lowest normal tide. That is why lows here rarely go below zero.

Tide predictions and water levels from the Canadian Hydrographic Service. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
