About the tides at Amelia Earhart Dam

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Mystic River, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. With a mean range of about 9.6 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. That is larger than most Massachusetts stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 10.3 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 13.0 ft, comes on October 28, and the smallest, 6.3 ft, on Monday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 12.0 ft on July 6 and bottom out at −1.7 ft on January 23.

Predictions for Amelia Earhart Dam come from this station's own tide records. There is no live sensor, so the table shows forecast only. NOAA measured the tide here in 1994 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Charlestown, 2 mi away. For tidal currents, see Mystic River Bridge, 0.1 n.mi. west of.
