About the tides at Chelsea St. Bridge

Chelsea St. Bridge has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. With a mean range of about 9.6 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. That is larger than most Massachusetts stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 10.4 ft. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 12.0 ft on July 6 and bottom out at −1.7 ft on January 23.

Predictions for Chelsea St. Bridge come from this station's own tide records. There is no live sensor, so the table shows forecast only. NOAA measured the tide here in 2002 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Charlestown, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 5 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Chelsea River, below bascule bridge.

Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
