About the tides at Anchorage

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 1.9 ft. The tide range here is very large, about 26.2 ft on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 29.2 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 27, with a range of 34.8 ft. Neap tides follow today, when the range shrinks to 19.5 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 32.9 ft on September 1, and the lowest is −4.5 ft on January 24.
