About the tides at Arletta

Tides here are mixed. On average the two daily highs differ by 2.0 ft, so check which low is the lower one before you head out. The pattern follows the reference station at Seattle, Puget Sound. With a mean range of about 9.5 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. That is larger than most Washington stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 13.3 ft. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 15.4 ft on January 25 and bottom out at −4.1 ft on December 24.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Seattle, Puget Sound, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here in 1978 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Horsehead Bay, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 7 min later.
