About the tides at Ballast Point

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. Water here rises and falls only about 2.0 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. That is larger than most Florida stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 2.7 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 2.9 ft, comes on Monday, and the smallest, 1.8 ft, on October 19. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 3.6 ft on August 2 and bottom out at −1.1 ft on December 24.

Predictions for Ballast Point come from this station's own tide records. There is no live sensor, so the table shows forecast only. NOAA measured the tide here from 1975 to 1996 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Davis Island, 2 mi away. For tidal currents, see Cut C Channel, marker '21', Hillsborough Bay.

Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
