About the tides at Beach Haven Coast Guard Station
Beach Haven Coast Guard Station has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Sandy Hook. The average range is about 2.1 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is smaller than most New Jersey stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 2.5 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 27, with a range of 3.0 ft. Neap tides follow tomorrow, when the range shrinks to 1.4 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 2.9 ft on August 2, and the lowest is −0.8 ft on January 23.
Beach Haven Coast Guard Station is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Sandy Hook: highs come about 78 min and lows about 83 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1976 to 1977 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Little Sheepshead Creek, 4 mi away, where high tide comes about 43 min earlier.
