About the tides at Belleville
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.7 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at NEW YORK (The Battery). With a mean range of about 5.6 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. That is larger than most New Jersey stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 6.2 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 7.3 ft, comes on Saturday, and the smallest, 3.8 ft, on October 18. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 7.6 ft on August 2 and bottom out at −1.6 ft on January 23.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at NEW YORK (The Battery), with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1976 to 1994 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Fish Creek, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 53 min later. For tidal currents, see Lincoln Highway Bridge, Passaic River.
Predictions are based on NEW YORK (The Battery).
