About the tides at Big Pine Key, Doctors Arm, Bogie Channel
This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Key West. The mean range is small, about 0.8 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most Florida stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 1.2 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 27, with a range of 1.6 ft. Neap tides follow today, when the range shrinks to 0.7 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 1.6 ft on October 29, and the lowest is −0.5 ft on January 21.
Big Pine Key, Doctors Arm, Bogie Channel is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Key West: highs come about 41 min and lows about 107 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here in 1974 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Big Pine Key, Bogie Channel Bridge, 0.7 mi away, where high tide comes about 1 h 29 m later. For tidal currents, see No Name Key, northeast of.
Predictions are based on Key West.
