About the tides at Big Pine Key, Pine Channel Bridge, north side
This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Key West. Water here rises and falls only about 0.8 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. That is smaller than most Florida stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 1.1 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 1.5 ft, comes on October 28, and the smallest, 0.8 ft, on October 29. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 1.4 ft on October 28 and bottom out at −0.2 ft on January 21.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Key West, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1970 to 1975 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Big Pine Key, Pine Channel Bridge, south side, 0.2 mi away, where high tide comes about 16 min earlier. For tidal currents, see No Name Key, northeast of.
Predictions are based on Key West.
Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
