About the tides at Blashke Island

Blashke Island has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Ketchikan. Blashke Island sees a mean range of about 13.5 ft. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 15.8 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 19.5 ft, comes on October 11, and the smallest, 10.8 ft, on Friday.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Ketchikan, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here in 2002 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Thorne Island, 5 mi away. For tidal currents, see Key Reef.
