About the tides at Lake Bay
Lake Bay has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Ketchikan, Tongass Narrows. Lake Bay sees a mean range of about 13.4 ft. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 19.5 ft, comes tomorrow, and the smallest, 6.7 ft, on October 17. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 19.6 ft on December 24 and bottom out at −3.9 ft on July 5.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Ketchikan, Tongass Narrows, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Beck Island, 3 mi away. For tidal currents, see Lincoln Rock Light, 1 mile west from.
Predictions are based on Ketchikan, Tongass Narrows.
