About the tides at Boca de Quadra
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 1.5 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Ketchikan. The tide range here is very large, about 12.7 ft on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 15.1 ft.
Boca de Quadra is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Ketchikan: highs come about 0 min and lows about 2 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1933 to 1982 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Kah Shakes Cove, 9 mi away.
Predictions are based on Ketchikan.
