About the tides at Bon Secour

Most days here have a single high and a single low. Around neap tides the pattern can blur into small double tides. The pattern follows the reference station at Mobile State Docks, Mobile River. Water here rises and falls only about 1.5 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 2.7 ft, comes on October 30, and the smallest, 0.4 ft, on Thursday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 2.5 ft on June 6 and bottom out at −1.2 ft on January 21.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Mobile State Docks, Mobile River, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1980 to 1986 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Gulf Shores, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 17 min later.
