About the tides at Bon Secour

Bon Secour usually gets one high and one low tide a day, known as a diurnal tide. The pattern follows the reference station at MOBILE, Mobile River (State Dock). Water here rises and falls only about 1.5 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 2.4 ft, comes on Friday, and the smallest, 0.3 ft, on October 8.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at MOBILE, Mobile River (State Dock), with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1980 to 1986 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Gulf Shores, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 31 min later.
