About the tides at Boston Light

Boston Light has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. With a mean range of about 9.1 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 9.8 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 11.2 ft, comes today, and the smallest, 8.3 ft, on Sunday.

Predictions for Boston Light come from this station's own tide records. There is no live sensor, so the table shows forecast only. NOAA measured the tide here from 2000 to 2004 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Hull, 2 mi away. For tidal currents, see Boston Light, 0.2 n.mi. south of.
