About the tides at Callawassie Creek
Callawassie Creek has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Fort Pulaski, Savannah River. With a mean range of about 7.4 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. That is larger than most South Carolina stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 10.2 ft, comes on October 27, and the smallest, 5.9 ft, today. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 10.1 ft on October 27 and bottom out at −2.1 ft on January 23.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Fort Pulaski, Savannah River, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Callawassie Island, 1 mi away, where high tide comes about 6 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Lemon Island South, Chechessee River.
Predictions are based on Fort Pulaski, Savannah River.
