About the tides at Cape Hinchinbrook

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The range is large, about 8.9 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 11.2 ft. The next spring tides peak on Sunday, with a range of 13.3 ft. Neap tides follow on October 17, when the range shrinks to 3.8 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 15.4 ft on November 25, and the lowest is −4.1 ft on July 5.

This is a prediction station. NOAA calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. NOAA measured the tide here from 1979 to 2003 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Johnstone Point, 17 mi away, where high tide comes about 6 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Cape Hinchinbrook, SW of, Hinchinbrook I.
