About the tides at Caribou

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.13 m. The average range is about 0.93 m. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is smaller than most Nova Scotia stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 27, with a range of 1.53 m. Neap tides follow on Thursday, when the range shrinks to 0.70 m.

Caribou is a CHS station with a live water level gauge. Predictions come from the station's own tidal analysis. It was established in 2025. The nearest other station is Pictou, 7.3 km away, where high tide comes about 22 min earlier. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
