About the tides at Chesconessex Creek
Tides here are mixed. On average the two daily highs differ by 0.4 ft, so check which low is the lower one before you head out. The pattern follows the reference station at Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. Water here rises and falls only about 1.9 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 2.3 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 2.9 ft, comes on October 27, and the smallest, 0.9 ft, today. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 2.9 ft on September 30 and bottom out at −1.1 ft on January 23.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them.
