About the tides at Chinook

Tides here are mixed. On average the two daily highs differ by 1.1 ft, so check which low is the lower one before you head out. The pattern follows the reference station at Astoria, Tongue Point, Columbia River. The range is large, about 6.1 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. The next spring tides peak on Sunday, with a range of 9.5 ft. Neap tides follow on October 17, when the range shrinks to 2.5 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 10.1 ft on December 24, and the lowest is −2.3 ft on July 5.

Chinook is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Astoria, Tongue Point, Columbia River: highs come about 30 min and lows about 52 min earlier than there.
