About the tides at Chokoloskee

Chokoloskee has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Naples. The average range is about 2.5 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is larger than most Florida stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 3.2 ft. The next spring tides peak on Monday, with a range of 3.6 ft. Neap tides follow on October 19, when the range shrinks to 2.4 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 4.2 ft on August 31, and the lowest is −0.8 ft on December 24.

Chokoloskee is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Naples: highs come about 135 min and lows about 194 min later than there. It was established in 1973. The nearest other station is Chatham River entrance, 10 mi away, where high tide comes about 1 h 16 m earlier.
