About the tides at Clam Bay

Tides here are mixed. On average the two daily highs differ by 1.9 ft, so check which low is the lower one before you head out. The pattern follows the reference station at Seattle, Puget Sound. The range is large, about 7.5 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. The next spring tides peak on October 28, with a range of 14.9 ft. Neap tides follow on October 27, when the range shrinks to 5.4 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 13.2 ft on January 25, and the lowest is −3.9 ft on December 24.

Clam Bay is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Seattle, Puget Sound: highs come about 3 min and lows about 4 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1974 to 1977 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Port Blakely, 2 mi away. For tidal currents, see Rich Passage, East end.

Predictions are based on Seattle, Puget Sound.
