About the tides at Claremont
Claremont has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Sewells Point, Hampton Roads. The mean range is small, about 1.8 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 2.1 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 25, with a range of 2.2 ft. Neap tides follow on Monday, when the range shrinks to 0.8 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 2.7 ft on September 30, and the lowest is −1.0 ft on January 23.
Claremont is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Sewells Point, Hampton Roads: highs come about 231 min and lows about 265 min later than there.
